ABOUT HEALTHY ROOTS

Healthy Roots was created in order to help people heal their relationship with food, their bodies, and ultimately themselves.

Through self-compassion and empowerment, our mission is to enable people to live life unrestricted, without being all-consumed by diet culture and negative self-talk.

As a team, we work together to create awareness surrounding thoughts and behaviors pertaining to food and the body. Through mindfulness techniques, we are able to identify patterns and limiting beliefs that inhibit you from living life unrestricted.


Through this journey, you will be provided with tools, resources, and information to ensure you feel supported, educated, and self-motivated. Our ultimate goal is to reconnect you with your body so that you can live your most joyful and authentic life without having fears hold you back.

Rather than dealing with just food at the surface level, we prefer to focus on the root of the struggles—hence the name Healthy Roots.

DISORDERED EATING PATTERNS

Disordered eating patterns differ from eating disorders in their level of intensity pertaining specifically to frequency of behaviors as well as distress levels. Disordered eating patterns may include restrictive eating, over eating, and/or other maladaptive habits surrounding food.

EATING DISORDERS

This includes but is not limited to anorexia nervosa (restricting type), anorexia nervosa (binge eating/purging type), bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, other specified feeding or eating disorder, and avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID).

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT STRUGGLES

This includes weight fluctuations from yo yo dieting, underlying disease or disorder, and/or challenging schedule or lifestyle. Our focus will not be on weight or weight loss, but instead, the behavioral patterns, habits, and/or lifestyle choices that may be influencing weight.

Connecting with the Body:

No matter what is happening physically or what behaviors are being used, the ultimate goal in treatment is always to get back in tune with the body and the signals it is sending you. This includes connecting with yourself and honoring yourself both physically and mentally without feeling of shame or guilt.

HEALTH AT EVERY SIZE FRAMEWORK

Anti-Diet:

With treatment, we will always take a HAES centered approach in which the focus is on healthy habits that can be done in the body we have now without focusing on dieting or weight loss. When this lens is applied, treatment is not only more holistically effective but sustainable as well.

NON JUDGMENTAL ENVIRONMENT

Inclusivity:

Whatever the struggles may be, we will always create and connect in a non judgmental, open minded, and empathic manner. We are weight, age, gender, sexuality, and size inclusive and welcome people of all backgrounds who wish to seek support.

SUPPORTIVE ATMOSPHERE

Comfortability:

We will always create a confidential, safe, and understanding environment for you to feel comfortable sharing your struggles. We will always operate from a place of empathy and compassion. If you are struggling with something we do not feel is in our scope, we will help equip you with referrals to find someone who can help.
